Community Connections

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say, ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider these people my heroes.” Fred Rogers.

Chew on this, “The word compassion has a strong personal element. To have compassion means more than just feeling sorry for somebody. It means to get down where they are in the midst of their need and to suffer with them in the midst of their pain….a suffering with another; painful sympathy.”  Love2020 website

For the last month I’ve been in “Compassion” training; I have failed at times and I have wept over the inhumanity I’ve witnessed. I’ve asked Jesus to teach me Biblical compassion and show me how to encourage those who struggle with a heart that’s getting harder, a hand that’s getting colder and cheeks without tears.

I am reminded there are amazing ministries and non-profits in the Tulsa area who are exemplifying community connection and compassion. As I truly believe we can do more and we can do better, in the meantime we have listed some links to help you help others and help you get the help you need.
